This article analyzes the work of other scholarly works on aging. These are educational articles on Alzheimer's, dementia, etc. This is in no way my original work, but merely an analysis of others. Dugdale focuses his work on what might cause people to slow down as they age and often become less productive. Being targeted at the general audience, Dugdale attempts to educate the public about the basic factors that cause cognitive regression as people age. As people age, the nervous system begins to slow down. This means that the nerve cells between the spinal cord and the brain lose traction and the messages sent between the two slow down. This is caused after years of accumulation of life between nerve cells. Over the years these nerve cells can become tangled and increase the likelihood of a breakdown in a person's senses, but this cannot be said for everyone.
