Although Doctors Without Borders is not a direct solution to accessing healthcare, it is a program implemented so that people can receive healthcare in dire situations. This organization overcomes the obstacle of obtaining direct care. However, an article in Spiegel suggests that attacks on medical staff and hospitals in the midst of war leave medical personnel wondering whether attempting to provide aid is worth the risk. In May 2016, “unknown assailants attacked an MSF off-road vehicle in the Central African Republic and shot the driver” (Kuntz). Another incident occurred in July 2016, “the Syrian regime attacked four MSF-supported hospitals in Aleppo” (Kuntz). It appears that areas surrounded by war and violence tend to have problems accessing healthcare. Consequently, medical professionals must be willing to practice abroad and not only during times of crisis
