Active euthanasia is when someone kills another person out of concern for their well-being. However, passive euthanasia is one in which you give up the opportunity to prevent the death of another because you are concerned about that person. There are also three subcategories of each of these two categories: voluntary, nonvoluntary, and involuntary. Voluntary euthanasia is when a person asks you to allow them to succumb to death under adverse conditions, non-voluntary euthanasia would be one where a person has not given advance directives on how to handle adverse situations so that another person has to make the difficult decision, and Involuntary euthanasia is one in which a person expresses the desire not to die under any circumstances and is then killed.
