Do you know what moral development is? It focuses on the emergence, change and understanding of morality from childhood to adulthood and learning to treat others in the right way with respect. It is essential to measure your belief – the emotions, attitude and behavior that contribute to understanding. It has to do with both psychology and education. Moral development studies the role of peers and parents in facilitating moral development. Some of them concern conscience and values, socialization and cultural influences, empathy, altruism and positive development. Morality extends across disciplines and specializations within psychology. The psychology of moral development focuses on questions related to the origins and changes in morality that span one's entire life. Many people think that moral development is Kohlberg's theory. Lawrence Kohlberg is known for his theory which, with the work of Jean Piaget, he expanded to form his theory of moral reasoning. He began working on his theory when he graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Chicago in 1958. His theory had six developmental stages that formed the basis for ethical behavior. He relied on the Heinz Dilemma, which is a story of how individuals justify their actions when faced with similar moral dilemmas. Its phases can be divided into 3 sections, pre-conventional, conventional and post-conventional. It is rare to miss a higher stage, and you cannot skip a stage. Each stage helps you and provides you with a necessary perspective to be more well-rounded. Once you're in a stage you can't go back and it helps you start to understand more as you go through the stages of moral development. First you have an obedience that leads you to have your individual interest of only wanting the best for yourself, then to wanting everyone to think you are a good girl or a good boy. You learn how you must follow the laws and social norms to contract. Universal principles are the things that help you in life. They are important and this is the last stage of moral development.
