CHAPTER IINTRODUCTION An introduction is the first point of everything we want to do. In writing this proposal, the first chapter is the introduction, which contains Context of the study, Reason for choosing the topic, Statement of the problem, Objective of the study, Hypothesis, Limitation of the problem, Significance of the study, Definition of key terms and organization of the research. 1.1 Context of the study One of the functions of language is that of a communication tool. Some countries use English as a second language, such as Malaysia and Singapore. In Indonesia, English is a foreign language. The Indonesian government chooses English as the first foreign language to be taught in schools such as Junior High School (SMP), Senior High School (SMA) and University. It is important for students to learn the language because English is not only an international language but also a scientific language. Some students have difficulty mastering English because they can only learn and practice it a few times each week at school. Learning English involves mastering four skills such as listening, reading, speaking and writing. The skill of writing is a more complex and difficult skill to teach because it requires not only mastery of grammatical and rhetorical tools, but also of conceptual and judgmental tools (Heaton, 1975:138). Therefore, the teacher should be creative in delivering the lesson, in order to attract students' interest towards the taught topic. Teaching is not easy but it is very important and rewarding when teachers see that students can achieve the goal of teaching learning process. Some students think that English is difficult and makes them stressful. However, the teacher can make it fun... middle of paper... instructions to do something. The purpose is to explain how something can be done. 1.9 Organization of the research The author divided the proposal by writing into three chapters: Chapter I is the introduction which consists of Context of the study, Reason for the topic, Statement of the problem, Objective of the study Study, hypothesis, limitation of the problem, significance of the study, definition of key terms and organization of the research.Chapter II, review of literature related to the definition of writing, definition of procedure text, general concept of procedure text, definition of media, definition of food packaging.Chapter III, research methods, which consist of research design, object of the study, instrument of the study, data collection method, data collection procedure, test criteria, data analysis method.
