Topic > Analysis of Do It Better by Ben Carson - 1103

Bennie knew what satisfaction was when he achieved a goal. Life is all about outcomes and it's really great when they happen unexpectedly. As Bennie read two books a week, he began to gain knowledge in different topics, learned about different types of rocks, and actually became an expert in identifying rocks. Carson was so fascinated by reading books that all information became practical. One day in class the teacher asked the name of a rock and he answered correctly. He said it was an obsidian rock. Carson said, “They all look up to me” (608). Carson was proud of himself because he was smart. This is my favorite part of the story. The way he achieved his results in the classroom was so realistic because it really happened to us. He also did a great job of including his thoughts because it gave me a better idea of how happy and surprised he was when he answered the question correctly. For example, when I was in high school I had a math class that wasn't necessarily my favorite and I always got Fs on tests. I never tried hard, but I realized I could do better, so I started paying more attention in class, doing homework, and asking questions. Ultimately, I was getting better grades and got an A as my final grade. We are all intelligent and good at achieving results. The key is to work hard and eventually we will see ours
