The book I chose to review is called “The Butterfly's Last Kiss” by Jill Hucklesby. I enjoyed this book but it took a long time to get to the interesting part of the story. I related well to the book because it's from a teenage perspective. In this review I will look at the setting, plot, characterization and diction. Jaz lives in England but leaves the city to spend the summer under the open skies of the countryside at Papa Tom's (her grandfather's) old house, Frog Cottage – this is where most of the book is set. England is a wealthy, politically controlled urban area, but the setting shifts to a not-so-wealthy rural area. The setting is foreign because I don't live in England and it's very different to this part of the world. I wasn't able to relate to this environment because I don't know what the English countryside is like. Jaz has to deal with the difficulty of her mother (anna) who is seriously ill when she is diagnosed with cancer, due to the fact that her mother is but has not had time to spend with her mother. His mother recovered and decided to go to the countryside ...
