After graduating, Rowling began working for Amnesty International and in the 1990s moved to Portugal to teach English. While there it was easy to see that he spent his days looking for love and writing the first Harry Potter. Just over a year later, Rowling found something close to love in Jorge Arantes. Although they quickly went to bed, Rowling didn't let Arantes think their relationship was even remotely casual and open. If they were to be together, they would only be with each other (Scottish). Many of Rowling's friends found Arantes possessive and controlling and urged Rowling to leave him before the situation escalated. And she finally did, when he punched her in the face and kicked Rowling out without her daughter.
