School uniforms may not be everyone's favorite topic, but they are a controversial topic in our society. It has only been twenty-eight years since the first US public schools in Maryland and Washington DC instituted uniform policies. At first it was voluntary, but when the parents supported the idea, everything became reality. According to the supporter, the school uniform helps prevent the formation of gangs, but from the opponent's point of view it is only a plaster on the issue of violence. It also helps students resist peer pressure to buy fashionable clothes and, on the other hand, poses a financial burden to poor families. A student dressed in uniform is perceived better by teachers, but some argue that school uniforms can delay the transition to adulthood. I strongly believe that we should allow school uniform. Allowing school I remember when I was in school, my first year in the United States, I had trouble finding clothes to wear every day. Not only did I have trouble finding clothes to wear every day, but I couldn't afford to buy fashionable clothes. I felt like I didn't belong because all my classmates wore nice clothes and I didn't. I wasn't trying to copy them, or be someone I wasn't by wearing those clothes, or I didn't want to wear them just because my classmates were wearing them, I just wanted to wear something cute like everyone else else, I wanted to feel like I belonged. This is the worst peer pressure a teenager can endure. There are some teenagers out there who just want to feel like they belong, who want to fit in, but can't, because it's expensive to buy trendy clothes, and they try to deal with this pressure every single day. Pressure equals stress, stress equals not good work in school, and as a student and future parent I would want that to happen to my kids even if I had the opportunity to give it to them. That's why I firmly believe we should allow schooling
