"The twentieth century has been called the 'genocide century' due to the high number of cases of genocide during that time period," (Maritz 2012). Genocide is the deliberate killing of people who belong to a particular racial, political, or cultural group. It is said to come from the ideals of the Enlightenment, which cause humans to have a desire to control nature and, therefore, other people. The extermination of a group of people is carried out to establish a "perfect society". Genocides occur mainly due to prejudice. Sometimes groups form to think that anyone outside the group is an alien and that being different is bad. “Ethnic and cultural distinctions often give rise to the formation of 'in-group' and 'out-group' thinking, in which members of different races, religions or cultures see each other as separate, alien and 'different ',” (McMorran and Schultz 2003). Sometimes it also happens because there is economic or political instability and limited resources. In general, genocide is a terrible thing, except for countries with economic difficulties and limited resources. Genocide causes a lack of diversity, which makes a country's economy weak. This is relevant because a country's economy is what holds it together, so it is a downside to genocide. It's effective because countries collapse when they fail to finance their citizens, and that's a bad thing. Diversity also promotes economic growth. “…diversity stimulates economic development and homogeneity slows it down” (Florida 2011). This evidence is enough because people from different cultures, ethnic and racial groups have brought new ideas to countries that help economies grow. Diversity can also help promote entrepreneurship and improve the product...middle of paper...because not only is it morally wrong, but when something like genocide occurs there will be people all over the world who will feel the pain of it. need. do something about it. Genocide is a barbaric and inhumane act that should never be accepted. Works Cited Maritz, Dominique. "What are the main causes of genocide?"
