"International terrorism" means activities with the following three characteristics: 1. Involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law; 2. appear to be intentional (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion or (iii) influence the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping and 3. occurs entirely outside of it; territorial jurisdiction of the United States, or transcend national boundaries in terms of the means by which they are accomplished, the people they appear intended to intimidate or coerce, or the location in which their perpetrators operate or seek asylum.” (“Definitions of Terrorism in the United States Code.”) “The eradication of international terrorist factions is an objective that the United Nations has pursued since its inception. From fear campaigns to suicide bombings, terrorism is opposed by the entire civilized world, despite the few countries that host terrorist organizations within their borders” (“International Terrorism”). How the issue affects your country In October 2002, a Bali nightclub bombing killed 202 people, a car bomb exploded outside the Mariott Hotel in Jakarta killing 14 people. In September 2004, a car bomb exploded outside the Australian embassy in Indonesia killing 9 people and injuring more than 180. In October 2005 there were three suicide bombings on the island of Bali.
