Who is responsible? In Meredith's closing discussion, he states that he believes the island of Kiribati will inevitably vanish due to severe climate change and society's lack of response. He also states that we can try to slow global warming, but Kiribati will forever be affected by climate change. According to Climate.gov, increased flooding has already forced some villagers to move inland, but this short trip is a temporary solution as we are in danger of falling if we keep going back. Meredith and I completely agree because we can see that the lack of will expressed by the people to contribute to improving the situation on the island is evident. Relying on government accountability has done nothing for the people or the island. Therefore, people should take the initiative if their country is deemed unsafe. I was also interested in another discussion on the same topic by Cayli Bump. Cayli says Kiribati are to blame for importing goods instead of using natural resources which, as he points out, contributes to high levels of greenhouse gas emissions due to the planes used to deliver the goods. I fully agree that when you have ample resources available, the country should develop ways to do so
