Reason is an integral part of human intelligence while a lively spirit is a fundamental ingredient of the human soul. Some people are dominated by reason while others are guided by both reason and spirit throughout their lives. As for the rest of the people, their spirit is the dominant factor that directs and carries them forward. The guiding force in a person's life also makes a statement about that person's nature and characteristics. In Rabindranath Tagore's text The Post Office, the way in which the text operates beyond a literal level is clear from the text's depiction of the detail that what opens the doors of reason that hold people back is the immortal, free spirit and the imagination of a person, who flies. Those who are pure of heart may have the kind of spirit and imagination that is ready to break barriers of which there are not many; others are brave enough to break through, including the doors of reason. Amal is the one who is pure of heart and has a kind of spirit and imagination, who is ready to break barriers, not many others are brave enough to break, including the barriers of reason. This is evident from how he continually expresses the desire to go out when everyone warns him against it. At one point, Amal states, “I wish I were a squirrel! --that would be lovely. Uncle, why don't you let me go around?" (Tagore, 5). This shows that he opens the door of reason with his spirit despite being constantly reminded of reason. In another example, Amai goes on to point out that he doesn't want to be taught , who “would rather go around and see everything there is” (Tagore, 5) This is a statement that even though others expect Amal to follow logic and be a cultured man, he desires to experience the. world alone... middle of the card... only they can open the doors of reason, but they can also overcome mortality and other barriers associated with existence by enjoying the small aspects and joys of life When a person leaves that his spirit takes control, helps him to live life to the fullest despite the length of his life Also, it makes that person say “no” to the restrictions and confinement of Amal was short but he did not let that let the idea of death cloud his mind and enjoy life while he could.
