Is Ulysses a hero? There are numerous heroes in "The Odyssey", but none of them are as significant as Odysseus. “The Odyssey” is a narrative poem written by Homer (around 800 and 600 BC) to show the many adventures and experiences Odysseus had. During the Odyssey, Odysseus, a major Greek epic hero, is on a quest to return to his home in Ithaca; to his wife Penelope and son Telemachus. Just like in real life, not all heroes are perfect; they all have imperfections. In this case, Odysseus is sometimes insolent and rude; but he is still considered an epic hero due to the many heroic qualities he endures. Odysseus proves himself to be an exceptional hero in various ways, such as displaying loyalty, intelligence, courage, strength, and courage, which are all some of the most important qualities found in a hero. If a true hero can prove himself to be a true hero, it makes him a true hero. Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus shows us a great deal of courage and courage; the main thing a hero needs. In book 9, when Odysseus fought Polyphemus (the Cyclops) to try to save the lives of all the crew members held captive in the cave, he demonstrated courage the entire time because the true meaning of courage is when you have the ability to challenge fear or danger, which is exactly what he did in this situation. Even though Odysseus was afraid to face the Cyclopes, he did so anyway to get him and his crew members out of the Cyclops' cave alive; despite the 2 men eaten by the Cyclops. Another way Odysseus demonstrates courage and boldness was when he didn't give us into his crew even when things got tough, for example, when he faced Scylla knowing he would lose if...... middle of paper ...... a has to say. I honestly think Odysseus was a great leader because he did his best to keep his crew safe, he never gave up; even if they were in a bad situation. Odysseus has all the qualities to be a true hero. Not only did Odysseus fight on behalf of the Greeks at Troy (Trojan War), but he ultimately learned a valuable lesson from everything he went through; Odysseus endured much on his journey back to Ithaca but never gave up any of his principles. He also had good escape strategies and risked his life to save others. Imagine experiencing the same journey that Ulysses did, do you really think you would have survived? He made some small mistakes along the way, but none are perfect. This is why Odysseus is a hero because he is strong and intelligent and was able to get out of difficult situations.
