Topic > The growing problem of animal abuse in poor countries

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” (Gandhi). Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot to want from America. In recent years there has been an increase in animal abuse, unfortunately many cases go unreported and unrecognized. According to HSUS estimates, nearly one million animals are abused or killed due to domestic violence each year. From this growing problem, it is seen that humans have power over animals. Most commonly the victims who suffer are dogs, as seen in the photo. In 2007 the media reported that 64.5% of cases involved dogs, 18% cats and 25% other animals. Pit bulls are especially the most commonly abused dogs. Livestock are also victims, as HSUS investigations into slaughterhouses and livestock auctions, cases of animal abuse in the factory farming industry, have revealed. The image shown above depicts an innocent dog. Both its legs and its mouth were taped, which is what catches many people's attention, since duct tape on parts of an animal's body is not acceptable. A lot of emotion can be found in this image and it can make one feel hatred towards those people who commit these heinous actions. You can also feel sympathy, especially for those who own pets. Inhumanity is also well represented in this photograph. It's sad to believe that a person could do this to an animal. Unfortunately, charges of animal abuse may not be enough where this has occurred. There are many states like Pennsylvania whose laws are not strict enough when it comes to animal abuse. If the company does not do anything about it, this controversy will become growing in the years to come. Poverty in Contemporary Democratic Republic of Congo. Children without shoes are seen in school all to be successful and maybe have a chance to go further in life. The enthusiasm for school shown by the children caught my attention the most. Many are enthusiastic about learning, even if it means having to go through a lot of trouble just to get to school. The development of the arts allowed for greater awareness. Through stories, poems, paintings, photographs, films and more he has allowed us to see growing social issues in different ways. They may not disappear forever, but they can be reduced. Different issues vary across different cultures, but many problems such as poverty and poor education will continue to persist. It is how awareness is raised and how people around the world are informed that we can improve these dilemmas.
