Some families prefer life in prison rather than capital punishment. These families prefer that the money be spent on putting a person to death and getting help for the loss of their loved one. The loss of a loved one is a traumatic event. The death penalty focuses more on the condemned than on the suffering families. Instead of spending millions of dollars on capital punishment, this money could be spent helping families and working on unsolved cases where some families were never able to resolve the death of a loved one. Most families want the person who killed their loved one to suffer the same consequence: death. Sentencing a person to death is the only fair justice that our justice system could apply because in some cases, life in prison would be less painful for a person than capital punishment; while in other cases the greatest pain would come from life in prison. The reason prison would be less painful is because the killer could live a full life, but not in the real world. This is the simplest way out. But some prisoners don't like certain types of criminals because, depending on the type of crime, if a person who killed another was sentenced to life in prison, the prisoners will take "good" care of that person. This means that the person will wish they were dead rather than being in prison because the other prisoners will cause the killer so much pain. Pedophiles have the hardest life in prison. Usually, if their crime is known, they won't last long. For this reason, they are sometimes placed under protection. Richard Matt and David Sweat escaped from this prison, a feat no one has accomplished in the facility's 170 years of existence. Cutting through concrete and steel walls, these two inmates, who lived in cells adjacent to each other, used power tools to do so. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the prison is under regular maintenance, so it is impossible for Matt and Sweat to get these tools (Yan, Holly 1). Since two convicted murderers escaped from a maximum security prison in New York, other inmates in prisons across the country will think they can do the same
